We’ve prepared an event guide for Impact startups, check it out here. This is to help you find talks, masterclasses and roundtables that relate to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Impact startups is a movement encouraging companies and entrepreneurs at Collision to focus on how they can use tech to benefit their industry as a whole, their local communities, and even the planet.
Impact startups are selected by our team for their innovation in pursuit of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – 17 objectives in the fight against poverty, hunger, inequality, environmental degradation and climate change. Impact startups act on one or more of these goals in a way that could have a far-reaching effect within their industry and beyond.
At Collision 2021 we’re celebrating the startups at the forefront of this movement.
The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”
You can find out more here.
The startups team at Collision are looking for emerging companies that are:
• Pursuing one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in operations.
• Adjusting and adapting enterprise objectives to be more sustainable.
• Solving problems in your industry that could have a far-reaching effect.
• Prioritizing social collaboration over competition.
We use the UN Sustainable Development Goals to identify what startups are suitable for our Impact initiative. If you feel you are one of these startups, please reach out to your startup success manager so we can look into your eligibility.
There are many benefits to becoming an Impact startup:
Investor meetings: We have allocated impact investors who are interested in investing in social enterprise startups. You will have access to 1,000+ investors, including recognised impact-focused VCs and entrepreneurs.
Knowledge sharing: The Collision team offers key focused content for impact startups, including a dedicated Startup Session and startup roundtable.s with impact-related topic, in the run up to the event tech conference.
Strategic exposure: Stand out from the crowd with our ‘Impact startup’ badge which you share on your own social channels. We have strategic blog posts profiling some of the impact startups coming to Collision.
Community development: Create relationships – through our online Breakout discussion rooms and Impact specific Mentor Hours sessions – that will last long after the event ends.
PITCH: Apply for our startups’ PITCH competition, in which emerging companies battle it out for a chance to be crowned Collision’s PITCH winner.
40 words: This gives startups a platform to share the story of how they are using tech for good with the world – all in short 40-word video segments!
The SDGs are the guiding principles for our own sustainability initiatives. We want our startup community to reflect our own aims for a more sustainable world – that’s why we use the UN Sustainable Development Goals to determine what emerging companies are acting for good.
Impact startups prioritise collaboration and idea-sharing in tech development, rather than focusing purely profit.
